This book offers a short English-Chinese course of protein structure and function–enzyme catalysis, which includes three parts that present basic concepts and techniques of biochemistry: protein, gene and enzyme. This book adopted the chapters of Protein Composition and Structure, Exploring Proteins, DNA, RNA, and the Flow of Genetic Information, Exploring Genes, Enzymes: Basic Concepts and Kinetics, Catalytic Strategies, Glycolysis, The citric acid cycle and Oxidative Phosphorylation in a common university textbook in English, adding vocabulary, grammar and notes in Chinese. The author undertook the considerable task of creating this bilingual book because the integration of basic knowledge with specialized English is needed to serve the interests of a large population of Chinese professionals, as well as those in training, for English-Chinese bilingual teaching and learning in Biochemistry.
